What exactly is an Air Hygiene Log-book? It’s an ingenious, but surprisingly straightforward way of keeping up to date with your necessary Air Hygiene requirements and provides a hard record of services as backup protection.

WHAT PROTECTION DOES IT OFFER ME?

Having an AHL for your building means that you ensure you comply with the necessary regulations and Health & Safety Laws. It used to be said that “Out of sight, out of mind” was the general philosophy regarding air hygiene. However, there is an increasing general awareness of the responsibility and requirements for managing your air hygiene.

WHO’S PROMOTING THEM?

The B&ES (Building & Engineering Services Association) SFG group are promoting the log-books as necessary items for ensure compliance to regulations and laws. Overclean Ltd is a Company that takes this aspect of the industry very seriously and supports the B&ES in it’s efforts to promote the AHLs.

WHAT FORMAT DOES IT TAKE?

There are in fact two formats for the AHL. It comes in either paper (PAHL) or electronic (EAHL). The PAHL is your best friend in this matter. It is an A4 size book with information on everything you’ll need to keep up-to-date. It is designed for refined and defined Data Collection.

Within the PAHL are sections regarding the details of the building, the company that owns the building, the details of ductwork surveys, including important and necessary subsections concerning all the information about the ductwork system. Furthermore, there is a Recommendations section which has budget values for cleaning, as well as dates of renewal and expiry of Air Hygiene Certificates.

The EAHL version is not as slippery a subject as it might sound. It is the same system as the PAHL, except that it works on and can be updated via any computer system.
